In short
- No advertising, no tracking cookies, and I never sell or share your data for marketing.
- Visitor statistics are anonymous and cookie-free.
- Your name is only stored when you choose to give it: to contact me, book a lesson, join a quiz, save course progress or appear on a game leaderboard.

This website, englishvoiced.com, and its sections (Lens, Games, Quiz, Lessons and Courses) are run by Kris Galezewski, a private individual teaching English in Poland. I am the data controller for the personal data described here.

What I collect and why
Visiting the website
Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages (GitHub Pages) see your IP address and basic browser information, and keep short-lived technical logs to run and protect the service. I don't have access to those logs.
To see which pages are useful, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and doesn't identify individual visitors. I only see totals, for example page views, referring websites, countries and device types.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in running a secure website and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Contact form and email
When you send a message, I receive your name, email address and message. The form is delivered through Formspree, which forwards it to my inbox. Emails sent to [email protected] are forwarded to my inbox by Cloudflare Email Routing, and my inbox is hosted by Google (Gmail). When I write to you from [email protected], the email is sent through Resend, using its servers in the EU (Ireland). Resend doesn't track whether you open my emails or click links in them. I use these details only to reply to you and, if you become a student, to arrange lessons.
Legal basis: taking steps at your request before a possible agreement, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
Booking a lesson (Calendly)
The booking calendar on the contact page is provided by Calendly. It only loads when you click "Show booking calendar". From then on, Calendly may set its own cookies. If you book, Calendly collects your name, email and the details you enter, and shares them with me so I can hold the lesson. Calendly's own privacy notice also applies.
Legal basis: arranging the lesson you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
English Games leaderboard
Playing the games needs no personal data. If you choose to submit a score, the name you type is saved with the game and your score, and shown publicly on the leaderboard. A nickname works just as well as your real name. Your personal best scores are also kept in your own browser (see browser storage).
Some word games check whether a word exists by sending that word to the Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev). Only the word itself is sent, along with the technical information any web request carries, such as your IP address.
Legal basis: your consent when you submit a score (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). To withdraw it, email me and I'll remove the entry.
English Quiz (live quizzes and practice)
When you join a quiz, I store the name and avatar you choose, your answers, response times and score, and a short code that lets you rejoin if you're disconnected. Other players in the same quiz see your name and score, and I see everyone's results so I can follow up in lessons.
Legal basis: providing the lesson activity you take part in (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and my legitimate interest in following your progress as your teacher (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Courses (English+ and Workplace EQ)
To save your progress, a course asks for your name and optionally a group or class code. It then stores your lesson progress, answers to exercises and your personal glossary. I can see this in a teacher dashboard, so I can give feedback. Your name and progress are also kept in your browser.

English Lens
Lens collects no personal data. Your reading level and display settings are remembered in your browser. Videos play from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and only once you open a video. Video thumbnails are loaded from YouTube's image servers.

Fonts are hosted on this website itself, so loading a page doesn't contact Google Fonts.
Cookies and browser storage
This website sets no cookies. Some features save small things in your browser's own storage (localStorage) so they work the way you left them:
- light or dark theme, reading level and display settings;
- your best scores in the games;
- your name and progress in the courses.
This data stays on your device and isn't sent to me unless a feature above says so. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings. Calendly and YouTube can set their own cookies, but only after you choose to load the calendar or play a video.
Transfers outside the EU
Several of the services above are based in the United States or may store data there. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, for companies certified under it, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses included in those services' terms.
How long I keep data
- Messages and booking details: as long as we're in contact, and for up to 2 years after our last contact, unless you become a student.
- Course progress, glossary and quiz results: while you're studying with me, then deleted within 12 months of your last activity, or sooner if you ask.
- Leaderboard entries: until you ask me to remove them, or the leaderboard is reset.
- Visitor statistics: kept by Cloudflare in anonymous, aggregated form.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask me to:
- show you the data I hold about you and give you a copy (access and portability);
- correct it or delete it (rectification and erasure);
- limit how I use it, or stop using it where I rely on legitimate interest (restriction and objection);
- withdraw consent you've given, for example a leaderboard entry. This doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew it.
Email [email protected] and I'll reply within one month. If you think I've mishandled your data, you can complain to the Polish data protection authority: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl. If you live in another EU country, you can also complain to your own country's authority.
You don't have to give me any personal data to read the website or play the games. Some features, such as saving course progress or joining a live quiz, can't work without a name.
I don't make any automated decisions about you, and I don't use your data for profiling.
Children
The website is written for adult learners. If you're under 16, please use a nickname rather than your real name on leaderboards and in quizzes, and ask a parent or guardian before contacting me or booking a lesson.
Changes to this policy
If what the website collects changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
